When is the Best Time of Year to Get Married?

After the rush of excitement of the engagement everyone will be asking you when the big day is. This is certainly one of the first things you will have to decide before you hire a New York Wedding Planner. You don’t have to pick an exact date but knowing which season or month you want to have the ceremony in will lay a sound foundation on which to build your New York Wedding plan.

This is a very personal decision for you and your fiancé, and while you have to factor in the schedules of traveling family members and guests this is the day you will remember for the rest of your lives together so choose your favorite time of year, have your wedding coincide with an important anniversary or a special occasion like New Years or Valentine’s Day. There are many factors to consider when choosing the date of your wedding; it all depends on what your priorities are.

Weather:

Do you want to wear your family’s antique wedding gown? With the heavy fabric and long sleeves? The blisteringly hot summer months may not be the best idea for you – you don’t want to look uncomfortable in your wedding pictures, after all. Fall foliage can be integrated into your wedding theme to make a beautiful decorating scheme. Want a Christmas Wedding with crisp white snow? The perfect excuse to run to the sun for your honeymoon! Spring flowers for floral designs in the season of renewal are always a popular choice for the bride and groom. Whatever the season you are at the mercy of the elements, so be sure to discuss contingency plans with your New York Wedding Planner to make sure any inclement weather won’t spoil your perfect day.

Location

You can get married almost anywhere in New York; in a Horse and Carriage in Central Park to the Roof Garden of the Rockefeller Center. The number of guests and the fancy trimmings you want will limit you. Most restaurants and hotels will allow a simple civil ceremony (i.e. no confetti, candles etc.) if you hold the reception there afterwards. Do you want an outdoor wedding or indoor? What about the reception? Talk to your New York Wedding Planner about hiring coverage like, gazebos in one of New York’s beautiful parks, or a marquee to set up after the ceremony. The location is an important consideration, for example if you want to get married on the Brooklyn Bridge you can’t expect to have hundreds of guests. Very popular locations will need to be booked well in advance and the cost will depend on the season. Your wedding planner can advise you on what will work best for you once you have weighed up all of your options.

Cost:

You should talk with your family and soon to be spouse about what sort of budget your wedding can expect. Your New York Wedding Planner can help you out with the nitty gritty details like florists, musical arrangements, your wedding attire and wedding favors and often can provide a host of cost saving options. You can have a small ceremony and a large reception so all your friends can celebrate your joyful union. Do you want a wedding videographer – are they experienced in recording the type of wedding you are planning? Planning your wedding in the ‘off-season’, for example in December, can ensure you are able to book a great location with many vendors feeling especially attentive as they are able to devote more time to you. This will also give you opportunities to negotiate a better deal on many services and with many places tastefully decorated for the Holiday season that can be one item you can scratch from the list.

Remember your wedding day is about you and what you want. Choose your favorite time of the year and let your New York Wedding Planner help you organize everything, right down to the smallest detail. Hiring a professional planner, experienced in New York Weddings, will make certain your special day runs smoothly, allowing you the space to enjoy your memorable day.
